Next generation access networks will eventually replace the current broadband networks. Old and new networks may operate in parallel for a time, but there will be strong business reasons to move to a single, modern access network as super-fast broadband services become mass market. For current network owners, effective transition is likely to be one of the keys to the long term success of these new investments.
